How assessment works

Short courses

• Each course has a question pool of at least 40 multiple-choice questions written from that course's lessons.
• Each attempt draws 30 questions at random, mixing recall, application and scenario questions.
• Time limit 45 minutes. Pass mark 80%.
• Up to 3 attempts, with at least 24 hours between attempts.
• Grade bands: Pass 80 to 87, Merit 88 to 94, Distinction 95 to 100.
• Answers are marked on our server; correct answers are never sent to your browser before you submit.

Professional Diplomas

• Unit quizzes: timed, auto-marked, two attempts per unit, with explanations after the final attempt.
• Assignments marked by tutors against published rubrics, with written feedback.
• Second marking for a sample of work; large differences are resolved by agreement.
• Result: Pass (course mark 50 or more and every component 40 or more) or Refer.
• Grade bands: Distinction 70 or more, Merit 60 to 69, Pass 50 to 59.

Integrity

• All submitted work must be your own.
• Diploma submissions include a declaration of any AI use. The AI Trainer will explain concepts and comment on your own draft, but it will not write graded work.
• Certificates can be revoked for misconduct.

Appeals

To appeal a result, email info@hospitalityacademy.online within 14 days of the result, with your name, course and the reason. We reply within 10 working days.
